“This home is a stunning example of modernising an old building, while maintaining its heritage. The builder went to painstaking efforts to preserve the building’s character. All the original bricks were cleaned and re-used and the original rendering internally was removed to reveal the beautiful sandstone brick finish. The result is a practical and liveable house that has high environmental standards and all the charms of its 1880’s heritage. It’s a great example of a builder committed to delivering the best possible outcomes for their client,”

Architect extraordinaire Peter Maddison says he was concerned when he first heard about the project. “I was worried it was just going to be another daggy Victorian house. To his credit he’s done a complete opposite. There’s a lot of flexible space – the lounge room can also be a bedroom, or a study area, or a workspace. In addition, the fabrication that Chris has chosen to use on the ceilings and walls, I’ve never seem before in a domestic job- its something that’s uniquely him.”
